M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in 1992 for the purpose of offering a Four - Year B E Course in Computer Science and Engineering. In the earlier years the Department was functioning with the help of faculty members of Electrical and Electronics Departments. Later, Computer Science and Engineering graduate and post graduate faculty members were recruited. A centralized Computer Center was established in 1992 with fifty Computer Systems. In due course of time, Novel Netware network and UNIX laboratories were established. From the academic years 1992-93 to 1997-98, the intake was 30 students and the Department was affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad. From 1998-99 onwards, the intake has been enhanced to 60 and the affiliation was changed to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. In 1995 the Advanced Computer Laboratory was established with latest computers and softwares to cater to the laboratory / project requirements of students. In 1996 the first batch of B E (CSE) came out with a majority of students securing First Class with Distinction in the final year examinations conducted by Karnatak University, Dharwad.
Faculty members of the Department are encouraged to attend Training Programmes/ Workshops / Seminars. As a result, faculty members participated in various events on topics such as "Internet Programming", "Software Testing, Quality and Performance Engineering", "Multimedia and Mobile Wireless Networks" etc., held at various reputed engineering institutions.
Faculty members who were sponsored for M Tech/ M E Courses joined after successful completion of their courses. In the Silver Jubilee year of our College, the Department successfully organized a Workshop on "Wireless Networks and Programming Languages- Transition from Academics to Industry" on 11 December 2004.
The Department of CSE in association with the Departments of ENC and ISE successfully organized a Five-Day Training Programme on ‘Microsoft.Net' from 4 to 8 November 2006. Thirty Faculty members from various Engineering Colleges and nearby Polytechnics participated in the programme. The event was co-hosted by Indicom Softwares and Services, Chennai.
