SAINTGITS College of Engineering, Pathamuttom, was established by a group of committed educationalists, in the year 2002, with the objective of imparting quality technical education. It is an I.S.O. certified Institution, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. Within this short span, the Institute has developed the experience and expertise to run Engineering Degree Courses efficiently and effectively. It is now recognized as one of the leading Technical Institutes in Kerala.

Right from the stages of inception, it has been maintaining high levels of standards in academic and extra-curricular realms of activities. We offer B.Tech degree course in 6 Engineering disciplines and Masters degree courses in Mechanical Engineering (M.Tech. - Machine Design), Electrical Engineering (M.Tech. - Power Systems), Computer Applications (M.C.A) and Business Administration (M.B.A). Since establishment of the institute, our students are continuously securing high ranks in the University. Alumni of the Institute are wide spread within and outside the country working at responsible positions. The college is also the venue of several national and state level seminars and symposiums and has emerged as the hub of technical education in the state.

Our Central Library is one of the best of its kind in the state, with thousands of titles, in reference category as well as in text book category. We are subscribing to about 150 International & National journals, in addition to the subscription for e-journals through the Indest scheme of AICTE

Electrical & Electronics Department

The Department of Electrical & Electronics has highly qualified, well experienced and dedicated faculty. The department is well equipped and furnished laboratories to give training and coaching for the students in practical to increase their technical knowledge. The laboratory facilities are mainly come under four groups:-

* Power System Simulation Lab
* Electrical Machines Lab
* Power Electronics Lab
* Control System Lab

The department of electrical engineering has a vital role in producing scientists and technologists of highest calibre and running the PG programme to meet the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in the area of Power systems . This course is structured so as to give a strong base on power system generation, Transmission & Distribution, Operation, Analysis , Dynamics & Control together with the recent advances such as FACTS , Power Quality and Deregulation. The theory is enhanced through laboratory classes & seminars. Adequate exposure is also given on software tools and techniques in the relevant areas. The course is designed to enable the students to work effectively both in industries and utilities

A full fledged Computer Laboratory is set up exclusively for P.G. section, with sufficient computer terminals and other peripherals, with internet facility. We have licensed softwares like MATLAB & SIMULINK, PSCAD, LABVIEW , ETAP etc. Electrical department subscribes for IEEE e-journals, in addition to the hard copy subscriptions of international journals and also has a departmental library with ample titles for reference.

Research Programmes

The majority of staff members in the department have post graduation in different subjects and started work to do research in different areas by utilizing the college facilities.

Industrial Training

Students are sent for training in various industries for gathering knowledge in latest technologies and modern equipments used in the industry. Also they are sent for industrial visit as a part of their academic programme.
