This is precisely the reason for many mechanical engineers to occupy responsible positions practically in every field of activity - Space , Aviation, Power, Defense and of-course the elite Information technology as well . Most of the engineering based management experts hail from mechanical engineering background. There is substantial contribution by this faculty towards green revolution in the country.

Modern technological developments covering MEMS, NANO, Biomedical etc have been a part of studies in this field of engineering only. The Oxford college of Engineering has the following Laboratories in Mechanical engineering Department, equipped with state of the art technology. Well-trained staff and highly experienced faculty provide on-hand training to the students imparting right skills to them during the lab classes. 1. Workshop
2. Computer aided engineering drawing

Mechanical Engineering Department at TOCE is NBA accredited. The department has excellent faculty chosen with balanced blend of experts from industry and academics headed by Dr.M.S.Rajagopal is a doctorate from IIT, Madras and having many national and international publications to his credit.
Mechanical engineering industry stands aloft withstanding any turbulence in the industrial scenario that could be a result of variations such as market recession etc.The department hasVTU approved research centre and also offers PG course in "Thermal Power Engineering". Apart from
two national level conferences conducted till now, regular expert lectures, seminars and group activities inculcate team spirit among the students and the department is all set to organize International level conference shortly.
The department has successfully organized two national conferences, namely:
i) Application of FEM in Mechanical Engineering-FEM-2008 on March 24th&25th,2008.
ii) Evolving trends in Mechanical Engineering - ETME-09 on 13th and 14th March,2009.
