More information
Description
The Institute is deemed to be university and awards its own degree. The semester scheme is followed for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The academic performance of a student is graded on a ten-point scale, the letter grades awarded to a student in all the courses (except audit courses) are converted into a semester and cumulative performance index called the Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) respectively.
A system of feedback by the students about the instructor and the course is also in practice. New Initiatives
The education system has been revamped in line with those practiced in the best Institutes of the world. For Ph. D. programme, coursework concept has been introduced to ensure better quality of research. New post graduate courses have been introduced and a large number of electives have been introduced to enable students to have a wider choice of subjects from inter-disciplinary areas. Courses specific to management, communication techniques and computer-aided design and programming have been introduced to keep pace with changing times. Curriculum workshops are being organized for upgrading UG and PG schemes.
