Master of Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering came into existence as a separate department. The B.E. degree course was introduced during the year 1935-36 with the first batch obtaining the degree from Calcutta University in 1936. The M.E. degree examination in Electrical Engineering was held in the year 1955 when the first batch of postgraduate Electrical Engineers came out. The Ministry of Human Resources Development declared this department as one of the QIP centres for postgraduate studies and research.

At present, the academic curricula involve 8-semester graduate B.E. degree course and 4-semester postgraduate M.E. degree course in Electrical Engineering in two fields of specialization. The department also offers research programmes leading to Ph.D. degree through scholarships from UGC, CSIR etc
