Physiotherapy is that branch of Medical Science that helps to restore, maintain and promote optimal physical health. It not only helps to diagnose the extent & nature of neurological, muscoskeletal as a sports related impairment but also applies scientific management strategies to treat them. Physiotherapy is a Health Care profession concerned with the assessment, maintenance and restoration of physical functions and performance. The contribution of physiotherapy to India's Health Care System is linked inextricably to the changes that shaped our country from treating of War Amputees or Earthquake Injured to Polio Patients. The innovative therapies of the much acclaimed physiotherapy carved a niche for itself.

Course Contents

The first year of the Master's Programme consists of theoretical need as well as clinical exposure to the students. Students are posted at various centers based on their specialization streams. The second & final year includes seminars & theory classes, clinical dissertations & research work, related to the specialization. The Institute keeps arranging special workshops on the newer advances in the various fields of Physical Therapy, under which eminent personalities in the arena of Physiotherapy are invited to enlighten the students from time to time. The Master's programme students take up their University exam at the end of second year along with their project/dissertations submission. The weekly curriculum of the MPT students includes daily classes on the relevant subjects and clinical postings in different hospitals and the college OPD. The weekly schedule also includes seminars, case presentations and clinical discussions to keep the students updated about the recent advances in the field of physiotherapy. Final Year Students have to undertake a dissertation work under the supervision of learned guide from the Institute.

Scope

As a Physiotherapist, one has a choice from a huge horizon of potentials to earn a respectful & wealthy living. Choices are many, it could be a platform to have own practice in form of a clinic or Out Patient Department; be a part of medical team in hospitals or nursing homes in India or abroad. One could also attach in a national or state sports team or be a consultant for a slimming centre. Teaching & research are yet other aspects which one could look into with the profession.
