Course programme
Retailing has been defined as a business activity involving sale of
goods and services to consumers for
their personal, family or household use. Although retailing has been around since times immemorial, it
was in the 20th century that significant changes occured in the retail sector, especially in the developed
countries. Modern formats of retailing, such as department stores, discount stores, warehouse retailers
and hypermarkets, are now making inroads into developing countries of the world. Retailing has
become more organized and chain stores (using sophisticated Information Technology and
Communication to manage their operations) are coming up at the expense of independent shops.
In wake of the above, the MRM programme opens new vistas for young professionals to acquire
glittering careers in the field of retail management. The course has been designed in such a manner
