Bachelor's degree under the 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Fishery Sciences or a Bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology or Medicines (MBBS) with minimum of 50% Marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC) from a recognized university.
The syllabus is frequently revised to incorporate recently developed relevant technologies. It includes:
First Semester: Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry and Biophysics.
Second Semester: General Microbiology, R-DNA Technology, Immunology and Immunotechnology,Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.
Third Semester: Industrial microbiology, Applied Molecular Biology, Plant and Animal Tissue Culture, Environmental Biotechnology.
Fourth semester: one of the two elective papers- Medical Genetics/Biochemical Engineering and Fermentation Technology plus a ~5 months project work in a university department, biotech companies or reputed national research institutions (BARC, BHU, Bose Institute, CCMB, CIMAP, CDRI, IIVR, ITRC, JNU etc.).
The project work is presented by the students and evaluated by a panel of examiners. During the project work the students have to bear their personal expenses and any charges levied by the research Institution (e.g. CSIR Labs. etc.). Strong R-DNA technology and Applied Molecular Biology is our special strength.
