The college offer number of Post Graduation Courses, one of the course is MD in Blood transfusion & immune hematology.
The blood bank prepares and provides various blood components like, Packed RBCs, leucodepleted RBCs, Platelet concentrates and Single donor platelets. Granulocyte preparations can also be provided on demand. Therapeutic plasma exchange is routinely carried out. The attached Laboratory carries out routine and special investigations pertaining to Blood Group Serology and Immunohaematology. Clinicians are advised on use of specific Blood Component/ Fraction therapy to suit individual patient's requirement and accordingly the appropriate blood component/ plasma fraction issued. The department has been recognised as Zonal Blood Testing Centre (ZBTC) and also as Blood Component Separation Center (BCSC) by Govt of India.
The college is authorized to conduct post graduate courses vide. GOI MOD letter no. 8510/ DGAFMS/ DG-1D/ 2273/ 2001/ D Med dated 05 Nov 01, as amended vide GOI MOD letter no. 8510/ DGAFMS/ DG-1D/ 2556/ D Med dated 02 Sep 04 and GOI MOD letter no. 8510/ DGAFMS/ DG-1D/ 3018/ D Med dated 15 Oct 04.
The vacancies for the above course is available to service officers only. However, any unutilized vacancy is available to civilians. The selection for filling these vacancies is based on an entrance examination.
