P.hd in Biodiesel production & utilization
The school of Infrastructure Technology & Resource Management was established in the year of 2005-2006. The objective of the school is to offer a M. Tech. programme in energy Management and to conduct research in the energy related fields. Presently, the school is running a part-time m. Tech. programme in energy Management mainly for working professionals and conducting research on Energy Security & Jatropha Bio Diesel. In future, research will be conducted in more energy related areas like energy efficiency in buildings and solar energy.
To provide interdisciplinary necessary input to students, in energy resources, planning, technology and economics of energy usage in various sectors after their basic graduate degree.
To provide energy and environmental correlation and detailed information on environmental friendly energy conversion technologies
To provide details of energy and environmental economics
To Provide details of non- conventional renewable energy sources
To provide information on energy related management practices
To provide detailed practice on energy related softwares
Biodiesel production & utilization
Biodiesel is one of the most promising liquid alternative fuels. The main sources for biodiesel can be non-edible oils and different feed stocks obtained from various plant species. There are many species, which bear seeds rich in oil. Of these some promising tree species have been identified. These are jatropha Curcas (Ratan Jyot), Pongamia Pinnata (Karanja), Calophyllum Inophyllum (Nagchampa or polanga), Mahua & Caster Seemaruba etc. Out of these, jatropha Curcas are largely (more than one lakh plants) available in our university premises. These Jatropha seeds will be processed to produce biodiesel. Biodiesel thus produced will be tested for its potential utilization in existing IC engines for various applications.
In addition to above, research will be also be conducted on other energy related fields like energy efficiency in buildings and non-conventional energy sources like solar energy and wind mills.
