Environmental science is an interdisciplinary academic field that integrates physical and biological sciences (including physics, chemistry, biology, soil science, geology, and geography) to the study of the environment, and the solution of environmental problems. Students of environmental biology explore how regional groups of plants and animals live and interact with their environments. They also study the relationships of plants and animals within their species and with other species. Other subjects include biodiversity (the whole range of plants and animals in an area), conservation biology, and ecology.
