The Instrumentation Technology, Under Graduate programme in B.M.S.College of Engg is a four year full time degree course ,affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum, recognized by Govt. of Karnataka and approved by AICTE, New Delhi The department was established in the year 1991 by an eminent personality Prof. D. V. L Narayan, H.O.D Electrical Engineering with an admission intake of 30. The departments aims to develop Instrumentation Engineers to take up conceptual and developmental activities in areas of Instrumentation and control. The proficiency in the course is achieved through a combination of theoretical and experiential learning. The curriculum offers training to students in the field of Instrumentation and Transducers, Process control, Biomedical instrumentation and Virtual Instrumentation in higher semesters. The department has a professionally qualified and dedicated team of faculty who can offer training in different areas of specialization .Faculty members have presented and published papers and are taking up research. The well equipped Laboratories in the department provide learning through experiments in software and hardware .applications. The department has qualified technical staff for assisting students in practical work. The department has obtained AICTE , TAPTEK and MODROBS grants in the last five years for Establishment and Modernization of Laboratories .The department has been conducting Extension Lecture series by experts from various industries as a part of industry institution interaction. A workshop programme on "Embedded System Design using Microcontrollers" was organized as a networking activity under TEQIP. About 75% of the students are consistently placed in campus placement. Students are also encouraged to take up higher studies , actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities. An association for Instrumentation Engineers was formed in 2002.
