The department of Telecommunication Engineering was established in the year 1986 under the guidance of Dr. A Sreenivasan, who headed the department for twelve continuous years. The department has an undergraduate B.Tech. programme with an annual intake of 60 students. It is accredited by NBA for a period of three years with effect from April 2004. The Communication- , Electronics Circuits- and the Computer laboratory are well equipped to handle the regular laboratory curriculum of the University. The department has additional high-end equipments like Spectrum Analyzer, Storage Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, analog and digital communication modules, noise generator, fiber-optic devices to enable students to carry out in-house projects. The infrastructure in the department is about Rs 98 lakhs. The department has successfully executed two TAPTEC projects (Creation & Development of infrastructure and Providing facilities in Carrier communication laboratory), and one MODROBS project (Signal analysis and Synthesis).
