Ever fancied a career as a live sound engineer, or wanted to operate a PA system for a live event? This course will allow you to acquire knowledge and skills associated with the setting up and use of live sound equipment. Suitable for beginners, but also for those wanting to learn more about the sound systems they currently use, for example musicians, teachers and DJs.

Requirements: Entry Requirements A keen interest in the subject area is required. Some basic knowledge would be useful but not essential.

Course programme

What you will Study The course will cover the following areas: industry roles, health and safety, signal levels, cable/connector types, microphones, DI boxes, amplifiers, speakers, crossovers, analogue and digital mixing desks, signal processors, stage monitors, equipment set-up, live mixing and stage management, dealing with feedback and room acoustics.
How you will Learn Short lectures, demonstrations and practical experience, using industry standard live sound equipment - taught by a tutor with many years' experience as a professional sound engineer.
How you will be Assessed The course is not formally assessed.

Fee Information These fees relate to 2015/16 The course cost is £150. This course is non-funded. This means that students have to pay the full course fee regardless of income or personal circumstances.
