Course programme
The 21st century has brought with it a rapidly changing world
characterized by falling market barriers. The need of the hour is a
manager who can function effectively and effortlessly in this demanding
environment and exploit emerging IT, communication and process
technologies to the advantage of the enterprise. To lead industry in this
new era, one also needs self-reliant "intrapreneurs" who can provide the
necessary vision and leadership. As always, however, such a manager must
also be able to create a synergy among all the components of the
organization he/she manages.
Course Structure:
Changing times are steadily demanding adoption of new approaches to management education worldwide. While the traditional approach focuses on functional lines, NITIE long ago embraced the holistic approach to management with the objective of equipping the students with an attitude to rise above functional barriers. The programme provides students a well balanced insight into various managements frontiers viz. Marketing, Finance, Systems, Human Resources, Operations, Strategy etc. The Institute's pedagogy promotes students to look outwards by seeking and nurturing contacts with the real business world. In keeping with this philosophy, NITIE's USP is its 6 month industry internship programme, comprising of 2 months summer project and 4 months final industry internship. The objective of the internship programme is to provide the students an opportunity to integrate their classroom knowledge with practical aspects of business. Another such endeavor is the "Capstone Project" - where the students prepare a research paper in the assigned area under the guidance of an experienced faculty. Finally, classroom instructors at NITIE who are also MDP (Management Development Programme) trainers, successful industry consultants and accomplished researchers in management, ensure that classroom teaching is well synchronized with dynamic industry requirements. The case studies and analyses discussed in the class in majority of the cases are a simulation of their personal experiences with the industry as consultants.
Core courses:
1. Accounting and Finance
2. Cost Accounting and Control
3. Financial & Cost Accounting
4. Financial Management
5. Management Accounting and Control
Elective:
1. Financial Engg. and Managerial Perspectives
2. Financial Intermediaries and Capital Market
3. International Finance and Forex Management
4. Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management
5. M & A: Financial Analysis and Strategy
