PGDM:International Business

Currently SBIM offers a PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management). It is full time management programme approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) Ministry of HRD, Government of India. On the successful completion of the requirements of the programme the students are awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
# Course Concept :
The SBIM's diploma programme in management has been given a structure that is designed to capture the requirements of the modern business management. The focus of the course is on building rock solid foundation of students on the basic building blocks of business in first year. To achieve this, the courses offered in the first and second semester concentrate on developing holistic perspective of business. In the second year students are given freedom to specialize in various areas depending upon the market demands and student aptitude. Students with strong mathematical orientation can opt for finance specialization and ones with a bend towards soft skill can choose to be marketing or human resource specialists. This way the course allows the students to develop a synergy effect.

Modern day managers face two important challenges. First, how to break away form the norm and second, resilience to work under stressful conditions .The course execution encourages students to think out of box. Creative thinking, initiative and innovative approach to problem solving are appreciated and rewarded. The rigor involved in courses offered makes sure that students are sensitized and trained to take the stressful situations with ease.
# Curriculum :
The guiding idea in the development of curriculum development has been to provide the management education comparable to the best management institutions in the country and abroad. To achieve this, the Institute has roped in leading stalwarts in the field to devise the curriculum.

The curriculum spread over four semesters has a blend of the fundamental and electives or specialization courses. These courses have been incorporated by a sequential developmental process by discussions with experts from academia and industry. The curriculum aims to capture the demands of the industry in the best possible way so that the students are developed and trained accordingly. The curriculum development is an ongoing process in the current rapidly changing business environment. The Institute therefore has taken cognizance this reality and seeks to supplement the main curriculum with short term modules in emergent fields.
# Teaching Methodology :
The Institute is committed to execute its curriculum by employing all modern methods of imparting knowledge. In this process the historical methods are combined with the latest. The students are expected to attend lectures in which the theory is finely blended with practice. Case studies are used to sensitize students about the handling of managerial situations. It is emphasized that students develop analytical and decision making skills in unique set of business situations. The in class participation is encouraged to foster initiative and leadership qualities among the participants.

In order to enhance learning in multifaceted manner the use of other methods is encouraged. These include seminars, group presentations, group discussions, quizzes, business games, simulation exercises, and field visits. The stress is laid on updating the teaching methodologies in tune with the evolving business and management education scenario.
