Ph.D. in Anatomy
This college offers number of courses, one of the course is Ph.D. in Anatomy.
The institute is also active in research in various fields of modern medicine & health and medical education. A research council at institute level looks after the research activities and there is a scientific society which provides forum for presentation of the research work. A number of conferences, workshops, seminars and training courses are conducted by the institute every year. Funds for research come from mural and extramural sources like ICMR, UGC, DBT, WHO, etc.
The research activities conduct by the course is :
-Effect of exogenous melatonin on thymosis Alhpa 1 synthesis and release in albino rats - (UGC funded)
-Ghrelin, puberty, insulin resistance and type II Diabetes Mellitus - The role and mechanism of action of exogenous Ghrelin in pre-pubertal albino rats(UGC funded).
-Congenital anomalies of central nervous system in stillborn fetuses.
-A study of arterial supply of palate in stillborn fetuses with and without cleft palate.
-Cytogenetic study in infants with congenital malformations.
-A study of anthropometric profile in children with Downs' syndrome.
-Anatomy of inguinal canal in patients with inguinal hernia and in cadavers.
-Congenital anomalies of digestive system in still born fetuses.
-Effect of stress on protrate gland and seminal vesicles of young rats.

The candidates are admitted for the courses on the basis of Common Entrance Examinations. For M.D., M.S. and Diploma courses the Entrance Examination is conducted at Pondicherry and Chennai and the results are published within two or three days.
