Ph.D in Bank Management(Part Time)

The Department is the pioneer in whole of india in offering a Post Graduate (PG) programme in Bank Management. As such other acadamic institutions seek the support in designing the curriculum and evaluation of students.The Department has the credit of conducting training programmes for few banks. Faculy members are the visiting faculty members of training colleges of various banks.

The Department has close linkages with the banking industry. Senior bank executives are involved in framing the syllabi and evaluation of students. Some of them are visiting faculty members of the Department.For the Purpose of creating awarness and generation of ideas the department periodically arranges for seminars and workshops on topical issues of interest in banking. Members of the Banking fraternity and academicians are the participants in such events.

In order to enable the teachers to update their knowledge in the field of banking, the Department has so far, conducted Three refresher courses in the Bank Management with the support of the UGC. For sharpening the co-curricular skills of students, the department regularly arranges quiz programmes,debates and discussions on issues of concern.

Distance Education programmes viz., MBM and Post Graduate Diploma in Insurance Management(PGDIM) offered by the Department have received wide response from the practical bankers and employees of insurance companies.

Till April 2004, the Department has produced 14 batches of students at the PG level. Majority of them are well placed in banks and financial institutions. These students have been recruited by banks such as Karur Vysya Bank Ltd, Bharat Overseas Bank Ltd, Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank Ltd, Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, ICICI Bank Ltd, Centurion Bank Ltd, UTI Bank Ltd, Bank of Ceylon, American Express Bank and ABN Amro Bank. Two students have recently gone to Ethiopia as faculty members in two different Universities.
