Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, BCKV, came into being in West Bengal in 1974. The huge sylvine campus having its teaching, administrative, extension and research units now at Mohanpur, Nadia, WB., has got the district mandates for offering agricultural education both at UG and PG levels, conducting agricultural research as well as organizing extension programmes.

With a backdrop of different agro-climatic zones of West Bengal, comprising mainly of small farmers and farm entrepreneurs, it has already accomplished a glorious acumen through a relentless upgradation and diversification to emerge as a centre of excellence at the national level.

The faculties of the university are Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering and relentlessly providing modern and high value education to create technocrats and scientist of capability to go competitive both at national and international levels.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must have passed 2 years Masters' degree in Agriculture/Horticulture /Agril. Engineering from a duly recognized University securing at least 2.75 OGPA out of 4.00 scale (2.50 OGPA/4.00 for SC/ST candidates) or 6.75 OGPA in 10.00 scale (6.50 OGPA for SC/ST) or at least 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC and 50% for ST candidates) under traditional system of examination in respective stream in concerned discipline, following four year Bachelor's Degree programme with relevant subjects securing at least 2.75 OGPA in 4.00 scale (2.50 OGPA/4.00 for SC/ST candidates) or 6.50 OGPA in 10.00 scale (6.00 OGPA for SC/ST) or at least 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC & 50% for ST candidates) under traditional system of examination, and must have secured at least 60% marks (55% for SC & 50% for ST candidates) in aggregate in Higher Secondary or equivalent (10+2), school leaving examination.
In the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering the candidates completed M.Tech. with 1½ years course shall be allowed for admission. .
