Department of Botany offers the candidates for its Ph. D. Programme in the field of Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Tissue culture, Induced mutations, Rhizobial and Mycorrhizal research. So far many students have been awarded Ph.D. degree by the Department.
Organisation of viva-voce examinations for the Ph. D. Candidates who have worked in affiliated colleges
A good number of Ph. D. Viva-voce examinations in a year are being conducted by the Botany Department for the Ph. D. (Botany) candidates, registered under the supervision of faculty of affiliated P. G. colleges. Faculty members of local colleges, research scholars and M. Sc. (Botany) students of this Department participate in the Viva-voce examinations as observer and are academically benefited.
Eligibility
A candidate for admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) must have obtained the Master`s degree with at least 55 percent marks at the postgraduate examination of the University or an equivalent examination recognized by the University in the subject or any allied subject in which he/she wishes to pursue research. If the candidate secures less than 55 percent marks at the postgraduate examination but has secured second division at postgraduate as well as degree level, he/she will be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.
