Ph.D. in Persian
The University of Delhi offers Ph.D. in Persian course to its students.
It is offered by the Department of Persian and under the Faculty of ARTS.
A Candidate for the Ph.D. course in Persian must have passed the M. Phil. Course in Persian of the University of Delhi or other recognized University securing at least 55% marks. A candidate with first class in M.A. in Persian may also be admitted at the beginning of the session, but such a candidate shall have to do a required course work.
With the establishment of the Department of Persian in the Arts Faculty of the University and with the joining of Dr. S.A.H. Abidi a taste for research and literary activities was developed. Prof. Abidi had made a plan to prepare the history of Indo-Persian literature produced in India. Keeping the plan in mind he entrusted topics of particular periods to the Ph.D. scholars of the department. It is a matter of great satisfaction that the department has succeeded to some extent in its mission, and today the department has to its credit 27 awarded Ph.Ds.
