Amrita School of Pharmacy offers post graduate training for the Ph.D degree in the area of various aspects of drug research. Topics related to Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Herbal drugs, Quality control, & related aspects. Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Pharmaceutical Management, and other related aspects of Pharmaceutical Sciences are some of the special interest areas for the Ph.D programme.

The PhD study corresponds to a minimum of three years' study (full time) and 4 years (part time) based on a completed Master's degree in any field of pharmaceutical sciences or subjects like biological & health sciences related to various aspects of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The student shall carry out an individual study programme, including a research project supervised by a senior scientist and independent writing of a PhD thesis to be defended in connection with a public lecture and subsequent examination.
