Plastic Surgery is a specialized branch of surgery that deals with correction of all visible defects and deformities of the body. Two basic components of plastic surgery include:

Reconstructive surgery:
Correction of a defect or deformity present since birth or following an injury or surgical procedure.

Craniofacial Surgery: Deals with changing skeletal & soft tissue architecture of the face and skull.

Maxillofacial surgery: Treatment of soft tissue injuries of the face and facial bones resulting from road traffic accidents, sports injuries and assaults. Orthognathic surgery involves surgery Plastic Surgeryof the jaw to correct or establ ish a stable functional balance between the teeth, jaws and facial structures.

Birth defects: Correction of all birth defects like cleft lip and palate, ear and nose and hand deformities.

Hand Surgery: Reconstruction of all hand deformities present by birth like syndactyle (fused fingers), extra digits, thumb deformities etc. Repair and reconstruction of soft tissues injuries, hand fractures, neuro-vascular and tendon injuries.

Burns: Treatment of acute thermal, electrical and chemical burns and surgery for post burn scars, joint contractures and skin grafting.
