Course programme
Post-Graduate Degree in Rural Planning and Management
The multi disciplinary planning programme in Rural Planning and Management, within a broad
urban and regional planning framework, proposes to cover Planning, Design, Project
Development, Financing, implementation and management aspects. While the Water,
Agriculture, Housing, Natural Resource Management, Roads and Transport are emphasized,
students have the option to specialize in other rural components such as Social structure,
Cooperative, Communications as well as in Social Development.
Rural Planning and Management needs a multi-disciplinary approach focusing on spatial,
social, economic and environmental issues related to human habitat in rural and regional
contexts. Rural planning coverage ranges from policy perspectives for planning and
management of rural areas to preparation of action plans at the micro level. Main aim is to
integrate various issues to develop comprehensive strategies for rural planning and
management.
This Programme will prepare young talented planners to undertake challenging responsibilities
in the rural sector and organizations working for rural development. We are offering a two-year
P.G Programme leading to a Post-Graduate Degree in Rural Planning and Management
(PGRPM). The participants of this programme are expected to have professional expertise
useful for local, national and international organisation, NGOs, corporate, development
organizations, and funding agencies. CEPT is expected to develop as a unique institution of
rural planning and management and work as an institute with a mission. By educating a new
breed of professional rural planners and managers having appropriate knowledge, values and
ethos will help rural society and organisations to improve their skills in planning for
development.
