About this course
Students must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks (45% in case of the students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Persons with Disability (PWD) category. Students appearing for the final degree examination, at the time of application, can also apply. Students with relevant work experience will be preferred.

Globalization and liberalization of Indian economy along with integration of world markets have opened up horizons of prosperity and growth for business. The fast pace of changes has brought out the need to innovate newer ways of establishing and managing business. To address these need the Institute pioneered a full time entrepreneurship education course in 1988 .The programme is now offered as two year Post Graduate Diploma in Management -Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE), approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Programme Objectives
The objectives of this accelerated, rigorous and application-oriented program are to:

Structure Of The Programmes
PGDM-BE is a two-year, full time, residential programme offered through six trimesters. Curriculum offers a strong mix of quantitative, analytical and strategic skills that encompasses the fundamental core to progressive theories and concepts in business and management practices and prepares the students for all aspects of life beyond the campus. It aims at promoting an inquisitive mind, which proactively seeks the right knowledge, acquires the appropriate skills and promotes the right attitude to develop capabilities needed to manage enterprises in the twenty-first century. Because business ventures demand a strong foundation in key functions the programme is offered through series of courses under foundation, perspective, management and application module in six academic areas distributed throughout the programme duration i.e Entrepreneurship, Organization Management, Business Policy and Strategy, Marketing, Business Opportunity and Project Formulation and Economics & Finance.

Entrepreneurship
Creativity & Innovation for Entrepreneurial Excellence BE0101
The aim of this course is to enable the students to develop entrepreneurial creativity and encouraged them to apply them across a variety of settings. The course is underpinned by a clear and pervasive emphasis upon creativity, invention; design and innovation. This course will encourage students to understand the nature of the creative skills and their relevance to business, the operative process of these skills, and to indicate the acts and restraints that facilitate the cultivation of these skills.
Entrepreneurial Effectiveness BE 0102
The course primarily focuses on developing critical soft skills and interpersonal skills to become a successful entrepreneur. The session comprises of the various group exercises, presentation and the guest lectures to equip the students with the right skills and attitude. The course is designed to help students improve their performance as an entrepreneur and discover how their limits can be stretched, personally and professionally.
Entrepreneurial Lab BE 0103
The overall objective of the course is to create awareness amongst students to strengthen their individual as well as entrepreneurial personality. This would be achieved through understanding the personality development process and its associated variables, which play a crucial role in shaping the personality of a successful entrepreneur. Moreover, the laboratory experience can help to develop clear idea of personal behaviour and to discover behavioural alternative that are available to develop entrepreneurship, and decide whether an individual wants to change his/her behaviour by choosing and practicing an alternative.
Entrepreneurial Management BE 0104
The objective of the course is to build capabilities of family business successors to make the most of commercial opportunities to innovate and benefit. This will help students developing organizations and structures, capabilities to do things differently, not just manage the change but to create and shape it quickly. At the end of the course, they should be able to apply core concepts of entrepreneurial management (intrapreneurship) on the job and create conducive climate for the same in their family firms.
Entrepreneurship Development: Recent Trends & Emerging Issues BE 0105
Future prosperity of India hinges on the creation of vibrant indigenous businesses that are deeply rooted in the local economy. For this to occur there is a need to expand the pool of local entrepreneurial talent to develop and manage new business ventures. For the aspiration to become a reality, effective support structures are required to harness local initiatives and nurture new enterprises that are capable of creating sustainable employment. The basic objective of this course is to identify the trends and emerging issues on the broader domain of entrepreneurship development.
Entrepreneurship Theatre BE 0106
The objective of this course is to excite the students in the field of entrepreneurship. The emphasis would be on studying conceptual perspectives and theories in the field of entrepreneurship and their application through case discussions. Drawing upon various studies of entrepreneurs and their achievements, the course attempts to create an understanding of entrepreneurial dynamics. Through extensive reading and participation in group discussions and facilitation by the instructors, students will sharpen their learning of entrepreneurial emergence and sustenance.
Entrepreneurship Training: Skills, Tools and Techniques BE 0107
Basic objective of this course is to train the students on various tools and techniques so that they can offer keys to success, now and in the future and not just in business—in all fields to the participants of various entrepreneurship development programmes. Entrepreneurship Training requires to impart critical thinking, success-oriented attitudes of initiative, intelligent risk-taking ability, collaboration, and opportunity recognition to the participants. These skills are necessary to prosper in the 21st century. This course will help develop these skills.
Entrepreneurship: Sustenance and Growth BE 0108
The course will help learning how to compete in and grow in the complex business environment.Issues related to managing a growing company will be analyzed. Topics include those related to changing organizational structures, measuring economic performance, developing management control systems and the changing role of the entrepreneur.
History of Entrepreneurship education and Training BE 0109
The history of entrepreneurship education in India is blessedly brief, but frustratingly disjointed. Initially started off as short term training programmes it has grown to sector specific long term programme to create trained entrepreneurs of new world . The focus of this course is to follow its root in various related fields. It focuses on the nature and role of the entrepreneur, as revealed in economic literature as early as the eighteenth century, when Richard Cantillon first coined the term 'entrepreneur' to Schumpeter's entrepreneurship which had occupied a dominant role in economic development.
Social Entrepreneurship BE 0110
Social entrepreneurship takes place in the for-profit and non profit sectors of the economy, and seeks to apply entrepreneurial business principles to provide social benefits in areas such as the environment, workforce development, education, health, community and international development. Achieving social/environmental purposes as well as financial support enables the sustainability and growth of these ventures. The course focuses on developing entrepreneurs who can become social entrepreneur by venturing into the social development activities.
New Enterprise Creation (NEC):
The objective of this specialization is to provide knowledge and develop competencies to start and manage own independent business. Students opting for this specialization are guided to work on a detailed project report and emerge with a bankable business plan after completion of classroom training.
