a Counselling Theory
There are 6 theory papers for the course. Lessons prepared by experienced professionals in the field will be supplied to the candidates at regular intervals.
The theory papers are as follows
1. PCA Personality Development
2. PCB Psychology of Adjustment
3. PCC Psychopathology
4. PCD Techniques and Methods of Counselling
5. PCE Marriage and Family Counselling
6. PCF Assessment and Treatment of Abnormal Behavior
As the first two papers deal with the fundamentals of Psychology, even those without a previous background in Psychology can follow these course materials without any difficulty.
b Field Work
Candidates after going through the lessons one by one, need to practice skills and techniques of counselling wherever possible. As Counselling Supervision is highly important in getting trained for Counselling, Verbatim reports of Counselling actually done by the Participant may be prepared and sent to the Institute. They will be returned after correction and remarks for improvement by the staff for understanding and modification during the next sessions of Counselling. Marks are awarded for writing these Verbatims. However, writing of Verbatim reports has now been made optional.
c Personal Contact Programmes (P.C.P.s)
The Personal Contact Programmes will help the participants to get familiarised with the concepts and the subject matter. Those who have attended short workshops and courses in Psychological Counselling can also review and reinforce the concepts and sharpen the skills. It will also give an opportunity to meet and get acquainted with the staff of the Institute.
