Reiki (pronounced ray-kee), is a Japanese healing technique developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1904. The term Reiki means 'universal life force energy'. This healing energy flows through a Reiki practitioner once he or she has been attuned to the healing Reiki energy, usually in Reiki training classes and courses. The ways to use what you learn in your Reiki training class or course are virtually endless. First of all, you can use the Reiki energy to heal yourself of physical, mental and emotional issues. You can help facilitate other people's healing, you can power up your food with Reiki, you can clear rooms or entire buildings with Reiki just as you could with sage.At Reiki Level 1, the Initiation/Attunement opens the student to the flow of Reiki (some would say: opens them to the awareness of the flow of Reiki). With Usui Shiki Ryoho, the 'outer' focus of Level 1 Reiki is on hands-on therapy at a purely physical level both for self-treatment and family and friends. However, the 'inner' focus of Level 1 is about learning to become 'a clear channel' for Reiki. Level 1 is about learning to 'let go and let the energy flow' - about learning to 'step out of the way' - learning to override the desire of ones conscious mind to interfere in the therapeutic process, and instead, simply let the Reiki phenomenon 'happen'. The attitude should be one of inviting and allowing Reiki to expose any mental and emotional blocks you have that hold you back from being completely who you are. Developing this attitude early on will greatly enhance the quality of your journey with Reiki. You can use your Reiki training : to heal yourself, to help others heal themselves, on animals, on situations (past, present and future)
