THE SAT - The SAT Reasoning Test (formerly SAT I: Reasoning Test), measures critical reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning skills students have developed over time and skills they need to be successful academically. The main purpose of the SAT remains the same, which is to provide information about students to the colleges they are applying to.

The SAT, written and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) is a three-hour and forty-five-minute test. Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800, and the writing section contains two subscores.

The SAT I writing section include multiple-choice questions and a written essay. The multiple-choice questions tests students' ability to identify sentence errors, improve sentences, and improve paragraphs. The essay measures the student's skill in developing a point of view on an issue. You are allowed 60 minutes to complete this section.

The SAT verbal section is now the critical reading section. On the new test, analogies are eliminated. It includes reading comprehension, sentence completions, and paragraph-length critical reading. This section now includes short reading passages along with the existing long reading passages. You are given 70 minutes to complete this section.

The math section consists of five multiple- choice questions and student- produced responses. Quantitative comparisons have been eliminated. You will be allowed a maximum of 70 minutes to complete this section too.

In addition, there is one 25-minute unscored section, known as the variable or equating section. This unscored section may be either a critical reading, math, or multiple-choice writing section.

The SAT score is valid for a period of 2 years.
