Information about the course

This course enables students to acquire and apply skills, knowledge and understanding of how science works and its essential role in society.  Successful candidates will achieve an AQA GCSE in Single Science Syllabus B.

Course content

Students study a wide variety of topics covering many aspects of science.  Included in the main subject areas:

Life Process and living things
Materials and their structures and properties
Physical processes

Coursework is an integral part of the course and some will contribute towards the course assessment. 

Assessment

Candidates will study the OCR Twenty First Century Science Syllabus A (Single GCSE - Foundation and Higher tiers).  

Progression

Science is an important subject for today's industrial society and is a basic requirement for a large number of employees. 

GCSE Science is often a requirement for students wishing to go into further education - particularly teacher training and healthcare.
