Description

Taking the qualities of colour, texture, surface and form students dissect and analyse these elements, disregarding preconceptions and expressing new ideas through unrestricted exploration. A variety of techniques including weave, knit, tie-dye and batik are taught using pastels, wax, bleach, sponges and stencils amongst other media.
Suitable for: We believe that the most important qualification for our courses is enthusiasm for the subject, a desire to learn creative talent. We have students who are at varying levels; some are beginner while others already work in the industry. At the end of your course we would expect you to have a level 3 qualification.

Important information

Requirements: No educational requirements for EU students. For Non-EU students: we would need a photocopy of your passport any school/university certificates, art/design/photo certificates, IELTS or any English language certificate from approved providers (check the UKBA list on the website) and samples of your art/design/photo work. You can send all by email. By the new UK Border Agency regulations students should have a good standard of English (at least B1 level) which is the Cambridge ESOL, IELTS mini. 4.0, TOEFL 437-473 or Middle Intermediate Level.

Textiles

explores the tactile and visual elements of materials creating surface pattern and texture on flat artwork, textural fabrications and 3D forms for application in interior design, fashion and as installations.

Taking the qualities of colour, texture, surface and form students dissect and analyse these elements, disregarding preconceptions and expressing new ideas through unrestricted exploration. A variety of techniques including weave, knit, tie-dye and batik are taught using pastels, wax, bleach, sponges and stencils amongst other media.

All our courses can lead to a nationally recognised qualification, although entry is not obligatory.
