The programme is open to Agriculture & Veterinary Graduates/Graduates in allied disciplines like Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Forestry, Food Technology, Home Science, Diary, Poultry Farming, Pisciculture and other allied subjects.

With a number of business opportunities existing in the agriculture sector, the scope to develop entrepreneurial potential in this sector is vast. Efforts towards developing small business will not only help in achieving economic growth but also create enormous employment opportunities in the field. EDI visualises the scope for introducing new innovations and strategic interaction in the agriculture sector.
Under the sponsorship of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and in association with NABARD, MANAGE and SFAC, EDI has launched a unique programme to train graduates to equip them with the latest information and knowledge so that they can provide effective counselling and technological know-how for better farming and value added products in the sector.
Objectives Of This Training Programme

Achievements And Success Rate
Till date, EDI has trained 71 persons under this scheme and has been able to achieve a success rate of around 50%. The participants have set up their units in varied sectors such as agro-based consultancy services, food processing, milk processing, marketing and consultancy, seed testing, green house, and nurseries etc. However the most preferred option amongst the trainee so far has been the agro related consultancy.
Concept In Brief
Agri-clinics: Agri-clinics are envisaged to provide expert services and advice to farmers on cropping practices, technology dissemination, crop protection from pests & diseases, market trends and prices of various crops in the markets and also clinical services for animal health etc. which would enhance productivity of crops / animals.
Agri-business Centers: Agri-business Centers are equipped to provide input supply, farm equipment on hire and other services.
In order to enhance viability of the ventures, Agriculture Graduates may also take up in agriculture and allied areas along with the Agri-clinics/Agribusiness Centers.
