The Vijayanagar Engineering College is an Institute managed by Veerasaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Bellary. The Veerasaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha is a Registered Education Body Started in 1916. The Sangha over the years, with a humble beginning with a Sanskrit Pathasala and a primary Kannada School, this grown in size and strength. It now runs 2 Middle Schools, 5 High Schools, 1 Junior College and 9 Degree Colleges of Arts, Science and Commerce, 2 Education Institutions, Law, 2 Engineering, B Pharmacy, D Pharmacy Colleges, Polytechnic and Institute of Management.
THE VIJAYANAGAR ENGINEERING COLLEGE:
The district lacked only a single line in its vast education complex, an Engineering Faculty. The Veerasaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, conscious of the vital need for technological education, has taken-up this challenge with humility and courage. The Vijayanagar Engineering College was sanctioned by the Government of Karnataka vide its Order No. R.D. 76 T.E.C. 80 dated 15-7-1980. The College was formally started on 22-10-1980 under the blessings and able guidance of Dr. A.S. Adke, former Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka University. Dharwad and Ex-Principal, Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal.
