Course programme

Anatomy and Physiology Course

In an anatomy and physiology course, students learn to recognize the normal functions of the body in order to later determine abnormalities. Students learn names and functions of the skeletal, integumentary (skin), nervous and muscular systems. The anatomy of the human body is covered so that students are quickly able to determine point locations further on in their acupuncture career. If advanced levels of this course are taken, other areas of the human body may be covered. These areas may include reproductive, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Trigger Points and Meridian Course

There are 12 meridians that span the human body. These meridians move energy through the body; each has an associated life function. In this course, students learn the meridian theory and location of the 12 meridians. Trigger points and measurement of acupuncture are covered for each of the 12 meridians including the stomach, bladder, liver, spleen and kidney. This course covers theories in evaluating the effects of therapeutic touch and how therapeutic touch can be adequate treatment for different health conditions.
