Assamese Music

It has managed to retain its purity despite the advent of western music. Major among them are, Nisukoni geet, Jhumar, Kamrupiya Lokageet, Husori, Goalpriya Lokgeet, Gorokhiya Naam and Bharigaan etc.

Other musical talents that have made a mark for themselves are, Khagen Mahanta, Luit Konwar Rudra Baruah, Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha, Zubeen Garg Parboti Prasad, Jayanta Hazarika and Rupkonwar Samar Hazarika to name a few.
