B.E - Agricultural Engineering

This involves design and production of agricultural machinery, planning, design and construction of farm buildings and associated equipment, irrigation, drainage, land resource planning and service engineering for farm machinery.

People with a background in agriculture can pursue a career in teaching agricultural science, economics and business administration if they have the requisite qualifications. They may also be able to work for agri-based business concerns. College teaching/agricultural extension service offers opportunities to post graduates in agriculture.

Government agencies, state departments of agriculture, banks and various trade organisations hire agricultural employees. State departments supervise the increase in crop production and seed upgradation.

Jobs are also available in the departments of animal husbandry and fisheries. For forestry, every state has a separate department. The "Green Revolution" has ushered in numerous job opportunities for agricultural engineers. Conservation and recreation projects, game reserves, commercial nurseries, landscape firms, parks and recreation centres also offer several opportunities. However agriculturalists without the qualifications do not have too many openings except agriculture.
