Biotechnology has emerged as one of the important and most dynamic field of Biological sciences. It has already made tremendous progress in all most all the fields of biological sciences, including agriculture, medical, pharmaceutical, environmental, fermentation industries. Knowing the potential of biotechnology, large number of biotech companies have been set up recently both by Government and private sectors. The out surge of biotech industries and research institutions created demand for skilled and biotech trained manpower. To augment the need of biotechnology work force, biotechnology degree programs (UG and PG) were started in many Universities.

Realizing the important role of educational institutions for generating skilled workers and scientific force, Gokula Education Trust has established the Department of Biotechnology to initiate Biotechnology degree program at MSRIT.

The degree program was initiated in the year 2002 with 30 students' intake. Four years later, the student intake was increased to 60. As anticipated our department had 100% admission all the academic years so far.

It is note worthy that our management is very supportive and cooperative in all our endeavors. They have provided us sufficient infrastructure and financially supported to set up state-of-the-art biotech labs.

The department always encourages its faculty to take up consultancy and research. In this regard an MOU has been signed with industry to promote Industry-Institute Interaction.
