The growth of services sector will be over 8% and its contribution to India’s GDP will be over 51%. According to Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), “India in the new knowledge economy” and the areas with significant potential include pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, legal support, intellectual property research and design.

India stands to gain from the inherent strengths in the biotechnology sector, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. The Indian Biotechnology sector is on the upswing and is expected to earn around annual revenue of Rs.22,000 Crores by 2010 and this may give an added advantage to the placement sector of Biotechnology.
