Database System Administration

DBA Fundamentals-I: Oracle overview and Architecture, Installing and managing oracle, creating a database and data dictionary, control and redo log files, Managing Table spaces and data files, Managing tables, indexes, and constraints, Managing users and security.

DBA Fundamentals �II: Basic Oracle net architecture - basic net server side configuration, basic net client-side configuration, usage and configuration of Oracle shared server architecture. Backup and Recovery, Transporting data between databases - export and import utility, Loading data into database-SQL*loader, database performance tuning.

Laboratory work: (With reference to Oracle latest version)

Installing Oracle through universal oracle installer, Starting up and shutting down Oracle instance, Creating, altering, dropping - database, tablespace, data files, control files, redo log files, Creating, altering dropping- users, profiles, roles, Granting and revoking system privileges and roles, Auditing the database, Querying the information through data dictionary about database, control file, redo log files, data files, tablespace, users, roles, profiles, indexes, constraint, tables, Configuring oracle net on the server, Configuring oracle net for the client, Configuring the shared server option, Configuring the database archiving mode, Graphically administering the database through Oracle enterprise manager, Oracle recovery manager(RMAN) overview and configuration, Working of Export utility, Working of Import utility, Usage of sql*loader to load data.
