B.E. Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical Engineering keeps pace with latest developments in Mechanical Engineering and allied fields. The department has a team of well qualified teaching staff, skilled technical staff and fully equipped laboratories.

BE Mechanical Engineering
The BE degree program which is offered as per the University curriculum, prepares students for a career as mechanical engineers and provides specialization in a wide choice of subjects as optional. The CAD/CAM centre, thermal laboratory, metrology laboratory, machine shop, metallurgical laboratory, dynamics, fluid mechanics laboratory attached to the department are equipped to provide excellent training in the respective areas. The department has also established close links with major industries in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Trichy and Bangalore.

I.C. Engines Laboratory
Test rig of refrigeration to find C.O.P and air conditioning test rig with controls for demonstration purpose are available.
Heat transfer laboratory
Measurement of thermal conductivity of insulation, emissivity of a surface, convective heat transfer co-efficient of air in free and forced convection, test rig for verifying Stiffer Boltzmann's law, analysis of temperature variation and heat transfer of a pin fin both in free and forced convection, determination of overall heat transfer co-efficient, log mean temperature difference and heat transfer both in parallel flow and counter flow heat exchange
