Founded in June 1950 by the legendary philanthropist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar with a noble vision and missionary zeal to cater to the Teacher Educational needs of this region, the college has completed 56 years now. The college had the prestige of celebrating its silver jubilee under the presidentship of our former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1975. During the inception of Alagappa University in 1985, the institution became a constituent College of the varsity. With its quality output of 100 young teachers every year, the institution has so far produced more than 5500 teachers, majority of whom are employed in the Government, Government Aided and Matriculation Schools of Ramnad and Sivaganga Districts. There are Best Teacher Awardees among them and a significant few have made their mark as notable heads of Schools.
