As the international language, English has had primacy of place down the centuries. Today with the increasing demand for communicative competence in learners of English as a second language and foreign language, courses of study aiming to impart communication skills in English have assumed great importance. There is an increasing demand for teachers of English and trainers in communication skills who can double up as soft-skills trainers. This trend is reflected in the number of students seeking admission to B.A. and M.A. (English Literature) courses.
