Its founder head Mr.A.K.Jaindaini was a fine scholar and was Vice Principal at the time of retirement . Another bright member of the department Ms.Aban Panthaky left for the USA in the 1960s for her doctoral studies and was the provost and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Chicago State University. The department is proud to have students like Mr.Valecha who went on to become an industrial psychologist. He is well known for having designed the 'Vallecha Scale' which has been used internationally. Academic Achievements : The Department has consistently achieved merit positions in the years between 2005 to 2009. Saloni Kuwadia achieved the 1st merit position at the Mumbai University TYBA examinations in the year 2008-9. In the same year Dilshad Ghadially achieved the 3rd merit position at the same exam. In the year 2006-7 Anjali Punjabi attained the 3rd merit position and in the year 2005-6 Tanya Maredia achieved the 9th merit position at the TYBA Mumbai University exams. The number of 1st classes have been above 90% in all these years. Highlights : • Honors program has been started in the year 2008-9 to give value addition to the course. • The department publishes the Psychology magazine 'Espectro Psychologico' and a journal: 'The Journal of Psychology'. • The students of the department give time to community activities by volunteering in NGOs like Spastics society, Shraddha foundation, NAB, SANKALP which work with people who have special problems. • Psychology events like Manthan -the quiz, Rang Manch _ Role Play competition, Chitra Katha- the poster Competition, Mindscape - the exhibition are organized to bring out the talent, creativity and management skills of students. • Regular paper presentations, class discussions, latest research articles' analyses, field trips, case studies are used to make the subject come alive and update the knowledge of students and teachers. • The student projects are field based and involve stastical analyses. • Experiments on Psychology are conducted on computers making them more techno savy.
