Economic statistics : Index number – its definition uses and limitations, Price
relatives and quantity of volume relatives, Link and chain relatives, Consumer price
index. Construction of simple & weighted index numbers.Laspeyer’s, Paasche’s
and Fisher’s formula, Various test for index numbers.
Static laws of demand and supply Price elasticity of demand Analysis of income
distribution and Pareto distribution. Log normal distribution and its properties.
Lorentz curve and estimation of elasticity from time series data.
Time series analysis. Economic time series, Its different components additive and
multiplicative models, Determination of trend.
Growth curves, Analysis of seasonal fluctuations, Construction of seasonal indices,
Cyclic & irregular fluctuations.
General theory of control charts, causes of variations control charts for attributes np,

Principles of acceptance sampling, Producer’s and Consumer’s risk, single and
double sampling plans – their O.C., A.O.Q., A.S.N. and ATI curves.
Computational techniques – difference table and methods of interpolation for equal
