B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering

The college offer number of courses, one of the course is B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering. The course is offer by the Department of Farm Machinery & Power Engineering. Admission to the first year of four year B.Tech. courses offered at State Funded and Self Financed Institutions of Uttaranchal (except for ICAR seats and NRI seats), shall be made on the basis of merit of AIEEE.

The Course imparts instructions in theoretical and applied areas like soil dynamics, dynamics of tillage, traction and earth moving, dynamics of farm machinery, farm machinery design, tractor design principles, farm machinery and tractor testing, bio-energy technologies, energy management in agriculture, ergonomic principles, safety in agricultural etc.

The department has well equipped laboratory facilities for testing of agricultural implements and machines. Indoor and outdoor soil bins are available for wear testing and performance evaluation of soil engaging implements including cage wheel. Animal loading car and test tracks are available for draftability assessment of draft animals. A well-equipped biogas laboratories has been established. The department has made significant contribution in the development and popularization of various farm equipment such as rotary puddler, spiked clod crusher, manual broadcaster, multi crop ferti-seed drill, Zero till ferti-seed drill, axial flow multicrop thresher, oscillatory sieve potato digger, windrower, mango stone decorticator, hard pan bursting equipment like wanged subsoiler with leading tines and many other specialized equipment for sugarcane planting and hill agriculture. Technology for baling, densification and ammoniation of baled crop residue for livestock production has also been developed.

The department at present has four All India Coordinated Research Projects and ten ad-hoc projects financed by various agencies.
