The Department of Civil Engineering has been established in the year 1984; approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. The department has got good representation in the University's Academic Bodies including the Chairman, Board of Studies in Civil Engineering, Academic Council, etc. The department undertakes consultancy and R&D activities. The department has successfully completed AICTE aided research project on Geo-foams under TAPTEC.

The department organizes many academic events such as, University Curriculum Development Workshop held on 14th Sep. 2001, AICTE-ISTE fully sponsored two week Short - Term Training Programme on "Maintenance & Rehabilitation of Civil Engineering Structures & system" held during 17th Feb. to 1st March 2003. One day Workshop on "Maintenance & Rehabilitation of Civil Engineering Structures" for Nagpur University teachers held on 16th Aug. 2003. AICTE sponsored One day Workshop on "Environmental & Pollution Awareness" held on 25th Aug. 2004. Annual Students' Technical Paper Presentation Competition, SPARK-06 held on 10-11 March 2006.

The Karmavir Dadasaheb Kannamwar College of Engineering, Nagpur, established in 1984 by Backward Class Youth Relief Committee (BCYRC) is one of the leading engineering colleges in Maharashtra State. Government of Maharashtra has conferred ‘A' Grade on the basis of excellence & adequate infrastructure as well as academic achievements of students and faculty. It is approved by AICTE New Delhi and The Institute of Engineers (India). The college successfully continues to attract attention of scholars from all over the subcontinent.

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING CELL: T & P Department plays a vital role in the college setup in forging fruitful and mutual beneficial link with industries. Working effectively and efficiently with various industries to facilitate our students for industrial training. Vacation training being an important part of engineering education, the department places its students for training session in some of the best industries in the country like Maruti Udyog Ltd., Telco, Tisco, Hero Honda T & P Department plays a vital role in the college setup in Motors, L & T, Whirlpool, Crompton Greaves, BHEL, NTPC, LML, Siemens, HEL, Bokaro Steel-Plant, Tarapur Atomic Power Station, NHPC, Central India Polymer Ltd., BSNL and various State Electricity Boards.
