The department was established in 1966.Over the years the department has
developed excellent facilities to impart training in areas of electrical
power system, electrical machines, instrumentation and control,
electrical networks, microprocessor, computer applications and power
electronics.
Apart from well equipped conventional laboratories like electrical machine laboratory, electrical measurement laboratory,the department has utilized funds obtained from Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and All India Council of Technical Education to build up a microprocessor application laboratory, a personal computer laboratory and power electronics laboratory
