B.Tech in Electronics & Communications Engineering

Electronics Engineering is one of the largest and fastest growing industries. It covers a wide range of applications we use daily which make our life easier and enjoyable such as Television, Radio, computers, telecommunication etc. Electronics has a major role in improving productivity in industries like oil, energy, agriculture and so many other important sectors of economy. In steel, petroleum and chemical industries it is the electronic devices that direct, control and test production processes. Health care industry depends on electronic instruments to perform chemical tests to check body functions. The safety in transportation, factories, mines, houses relies heavily on electronics. An important area within electronics engineering is the development of embedded system devices such as cell phones, digital audio players, digital video recorders, alarm systems, x-ray machines, and laser surgical tools, all require integration of hardware and embedded software. Today, the world breathes Electronics and without communication technology, there would be no future. Undoubtedly, the future is in Electronics and Communications. It is a very demanding career. Students who choose this field need to be molded accordingly, that is exactly what we do for a bright future.
COURSE OBJECTIVES & FACILITIES
The main objective of this course is to produce talented engineers in the field of Electronics & Communication engineering. Emphasis is on teaching design, testing and implementation of Electronics circuits required for communication related areas. Students are taught the applications in electronics in the field of communication systems, computer engineering, radar engineering, satellite communication, etc. Modern methods of electronic communication like Optical Communication, FSK, PSK, MSK, DPSK, are tested using the best modules. The major areas of faculty expertise include Communications, Advanced DSP, Biomedical & Speech Processing, Control, Instrumentation, VLSI, Image Processing & Computer Vision, Power System and Power Electronics. The Department has fully equipped, well-established laboratories with wide range of sophisticated
equipment, design softwares like VHDL, Verilog (VLSI/E-CAD-xilinx, active HDL, modelsim) and Pspice (MultiSim), including microprocessor & micro controller interfacing tools
as prescribed. St. Mary's believes in providing beyond the syllabus facilities to students in the form of additional State of Art laboratories consisting of latest technology.
