Course programme
Besides courses in their main subject, students for the BA Honours Programme will be required to take 4 Credit Courses and one Qualifying Non-credit Course as follows:
* One Credit Language Course
* One Qualifying Language Course
* One Interdisciplinary Course and
* Two discipline Centered Courses
o In the first year a student has to opt for courses under headings 1, 2 & 3.
o In the second year a student shall offer two Discipline Centered Courses out of the various options offered by the College.
o Each course carries 50 marks with 38 marks assigned to the Annual Examination and 12 marks to Internal Assessment.
o The pass mark for the Qualifying Courses is 36 percent. A student has to pass in the Qualifying Course to be eligible for the Honours degree; however, the marks in this course will not be counted towards the final division awarded. Internal Assessments will be held for Credit Courses but not for the Qualifying Course. The Qualifying Course in Hindi and English is offered at two levels, higher and lower. Students will opt for the higher or lower course depending on the level to which they have studied the language in school.
o Students enrolled in English Honours, Hindi Honours and Sanskrit Honours must opt for a Credit Language Course other than that of the main course, or an Interdisciplinary Course. The Qualifying Language Course for such students has to be a language other than the language of the main discipline as well as the one chosen for the Language course for credit. They can also opt for the specially designed courses by their parent departments.
