In our Bag Making Art Short course students will be taught by authentic Italian artisans all the techniques from a to z, learning how to make patterns, cut, skive and sew the leather, following the traditional rules of the "Made in Italy”. The goal is producing high-quality leather bags for which Italy is well known in the world.
During this time, you will have the opportunity to fully develop your creativity, mastering every leather-related technique, exploring all fields of employment and manufacturing methods. You will finally produce a wide range of different works, from small objects, to handbags, until interior components and pieces of furniture.

Course programme

Working directly with distinguished Florentine artists in studio, students studying the arts expand their knowledge and expertise through a combination of research, technical training and creative projects. Exposure to libraries, museums and private collections enhance this work.

As you know shoes and bags made by Feragamo and Gucci are famous for their high quality. You will learn every aspect of designing shoes and bags from Florence’s craftsmen with the top skills. Students with no previous experiences can start from easy pocketbook and if you already have experiences, you will make your own original work. You can take from 4 weeks course for bag making and shoes/bag design, however, if you are interested in shoe MAKING, you need to take 2 months course in order to complete a whole process in which you will learn every step of techniques prized as the world’s best leather art of Italy. Studio instructors are from a line of family, who has been making leather goods in generations. The studio is located in the area where aristocratic buildings are lined up. The instructor will show students every step of leather crafts in easy comprehensive manner. Design instructors will take you out to out-of-school lessons at Feragamo Shoes Museum if you prefer. He will help you to draw your best sensibility and design expressions for the latest design work of the world.
