The hospitality sector, as the predominant area of the Tourism Industry, has really taken off in India and there is really a boom going on in this industry. The hotel industry is growing at a rate of 20% per year and the additional human resource requirement of the industry was over 70, 000 by the year 2001. To keep pace with the unprecedented growth, the additional room requirement by the end of the year 2002 was around 65, 000 which means a phenomenal growth.

To keep pace with this unparalleled growth, the human resource requirement is also increasing. The liberalization policy of the Government has enhanced the pace of economic activities and given a boost to the national and international hotel chains to construct and provide more room capacities with better facilities in hotels in our country.

The basic qualification required to apply for a course in Hotel Management is 10+2. The selection process varies from institute to institute but generally a written test followed by a group discussion and a personal interview is the practice.

A bachelor degree from CHHTM, or 'first degree', or 'undergraduate degree' usually takes four years' (full-time study) to complete. It's awarded when you successfully complete a course, which means that you get a special certificate (a 'parchment'), and can put letters after your name to show which 'degree' you have. A BEc, for example, is a bachelor degree in economics, a BEng in engineering, and so on.

CHHTM's Hotel management Degree will train you to keep your operation running smoothly, even during the challenging rush seasons, or when dealing with inclement weather or difficult guests. Hotel management schools will provide courses in organizational skills, tourism planning, strategic management for hospitality and hotel management, business skills, financial analysis skills, environmental management, and more.

A hotel management degree program prepares you for employment in hotel, motels, resorts, clubs, cruise ships, and more. Hotel management careers present many challenges, but success provides great satisfaction, and the job presents great opportunities to work with many different types of people.
